Knowing the Japanese they'll probably turn that into highly productive, profitable, eco-friendly algae biofuel farms.

Wasn't there supposed to be some upcoming quake? It had been awhile since a big one, right? I thought I'd seen it mentioned in a history channel "modern marvels" or something.

    I am OK.

    I live in Tokyo.
TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Co.,Inc) is planning to have precaution shortage of electric power.

It will depend how everyone will save electricity but I may have power shortage 3 hrs per day if everyone does not save electricity.

The only thing I can do now is to save electricity in my home.

I think you're talking about the Tokai quake. If that happens most predict the entire city will sink into the ground and be destroyed. There are some concerns that this recent quake may be a trigger for that one. Time will tell of course, and this may be my last post, and today may have been my last shave, but I'll stay hopeful.
I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

This earthquake was a movement of Pacific plate and North American plate.
Tokai quake will be between Eurasian and Philipine plate.

So it is not correct to say that this quake will trigger the Tokai quake.

But many observation predict that a Tokai quake will come in the near future because there is some energy accumulated between Eurasian and Philipine plate.

But when the near future is is unknown.

My nephew was in Japan teaching English for the last 8 tears. He came home 3/18/11 to stay but his homecoming was planned for some time. I just happened to coincide with this earthquake.

He feels very fortunate to be home safely.

I wish all of you the best. As bad as the loss of life is I am also dismayed at the large number of people who have lost everything.

For those who want to look up the SRP members in Japan or Tokyo do the following....

At the top of this page on the menu bar click on...
    Community
    Member List
    Search
    Advanced search
Location field...fill in either Japan or Tokyo or...then press return

It will bring back the SRP names of those with that location

    Hope this helps,
Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
