Sorry fellas, I never followed up on this.
Ya I made a decision on one. The nice thing is, there's a very large knife store in Toronto, SR knives. I was able to have both in hand and try both out.
Both knives were right around the same price point, but hands down, the Benchmade mini griptilian is far superior. The American made 154cm steel is also a selling point. Same steel that Emerson uses on all his knives.
The edge that came on it was decent but I put an edge on it that pops arm hair. I have a unknown natural slate hone I don't use on my razors that works great for the final edge on it.
It already has been used and abused, I like it so much it's on me 24-7. I still use my large Olfa for the grunt jobs at work, but this comes in handy when I don't have my tool pouch on. At home I use it a lot too, opening packages, breaking down boxes, cutting milk bags open, whatever.
They even had the black blade and tan handle I wanted.

Very nice! I bought mine at Le Barrons in Markham.... uh, about 8 years ago. My wife got the larger one.
I finally had to retire mine lol - here is what's left of it - I should probably send it in for a new blade, but I like blades that I can choke up on a little more these days.
Anyway - congrats! I like the tan and that you didn't get the serrations!! As you can see, mine didn't fair very well lol.

That's a great knife. I have the Doug Ritter mini-grip and I reach for than one 6 days out of 7. By the way, mine came with a black oxide clip instead of the painted one. I like it cause it just "wears" instead of chipping. I liked it so much I called the company to buy them for my other Benchmade. She said sure, which ones? I told her and asked how much - she said no worries, you'll see them in the mail. Now that's service!!
I love living in the past...

I got great use out of it. It's the perfect size and not threatening at all. Unlike Edhewitt though - I didn't expose it to anyone when in England lol!!
Now that I think about it though, I must have gotten it more than 8 years ago, as I had it on my when I got my hunting licence. I'll never forget the instructor making fun of me in front of the whole class for buying such an "overpriced" knife. What a tool he was - it turned out when all was said and done, he was hawking some Cheap S&W stuff. I bought one - it didn't last .
Yeah - it's a timeless design, great size, weight etc., but being I am in KS now and allowed to carry anything I want including a switchblade, I am on the hunt.
And yet... I keep going back to the Micro Canadian lol! What an awesome little blade!! And what more do you need when living in a city?? Or town as the case my be.
Bark River Knives
Though... I love Swedish straights - hence a nice small Swedish blade might be the call... it comes in 3G steel!! Or VG10 (if you care lol).

Both those knives are gorgeous!
This is exactly what I had thought too. A lot of people think it's crazy to even have an EDC knife. That's another reason why I wanted a blade under 3". When I fling this bad boy out I don't need my mother and grandmother saying, "Andrew!! Why do you have that stupid thing on you!!!???? Especially with two little girls running around!!!l" funny thing is they use to say the same thing to my grandfather. And what more do you need when living in a city??

I'm a big vg10 fan myself. I once skinned & deboned 5 whitetail deer and after cleaning the blade up it would still take arm hair off along the entire edge. After that, I purchased another of the same blade just in case the discontinued the blade. Spyderco Bill Moran Black FRN with Kraton Inlay Upswept Knife FB01P | eBay Just showed you a link to see what I was talking about, a great lightweight hunting knife I know!

I find a Victorinox Climber or a Barlow the most useful to carry on an every day basis. Unless you spend lots of time hunting or away from civilisation there are always pliers, saws and tools more suitable for heavy duty cutting in the vehicle trunk or the workshop.
