Very different! M90 is a great steel - but man do I have a “hard” time sharpening it. Worth it when it’s over though!

    Congrats!

Spring steel. Same stuff as car springs, tough, real tough. Will rust rather easily. One of the top 5 carbon steels used, possibly #1 when it comes to camp/hard use knives.

Sorry, m390 is what it is. Wasnt too tough using my diamond stones. Supposed to be better at wear resistance than Elmax. It got its final sharpening today, so I will see. I truly admire the quality of how Microtech pays attention to detail. You pay a bit more, but the quality is there on their out the side switchblades...the otf's just dont seem tough enough for me. This thing is built like a tank!

You know, I've never had a blade that's 5160. I hear good things. They use it for springs on trucks I understand, so you know it's tough (hard)! I hear it takes a good edge as well - but I don't know personally. But man, a Bowie, your Bowie with a hard steel like 5160 is a beautiful thing indeed!!

I've wondered about that with OTFs, though I have never played with one.
