Thanked: 13The missus and I have #8s for camping. Not L'Hermione, just the standard ones. I can't recall if we went for the carbon or stainless, though. And I can't be arsed to go digging about under the stairs to find out. But still, great knives, and the locking mechanism is so simple but so solid that I kind of wish I'd thought of it.

They are good for camping, indeed ! The good thing is that they are pretty cheap (at least here), so you are not afraid of using it !
And I also forgot to mention one important point to have an Opinel as an EDC, for me : In France the law is pretty strict about carrying knife, it cannot exceed a few centimeters, nor have a locking mechanism. But the Opinel is so common in France that it's way more tolerated than other folding knife. Which is quite important for an EDC.

Yes, I was interested & I'm interested in getting one. They look to be very reasonable.

They are ! I don't know if they are easy to find in the US though, so if you don't find one at a reasonable price, pm me, I could send you one. I just checked, it'd cost about 12$, shipping included.

Oh right, if they are common there, that could be an option !
(I re-checked, and there's actually 2 options for shipping, and as long as I'm not really sure of which is possible for a package like this, I'll play safe, so : Max. 14,28$ for a n°8 carbon, and max. 15,53$ for a n°8 stainless, shipping included, indeed.)
