Made this one a couple days ago and just finished a fillet and hunting/guthook knife in Macassar ebony with silver nickel pins for a bud. Awesome looking set but I am putting a gun stock varnish oil finish on them so the finish will take 5 days to properly apply.

So I have been looking to buy a new EDC for some time. As I searched, I noted that my price point kept going higher and higher. To the point that I almost purchased the new Benchmade 940-1 last night. Its a production knice that costs $260.
Now I figure anything you love that would ultimately be less than $.72 cents a day... If amortization is over a year - Isn't such a bad deal, but having just lost and replaced two pairs of glasses, replacing my entire wardrobe, and knowing I need a new laptop - I had a moment of sanity today and succumb to buying a knife from a maker I have always wanted to try whose prices I feel are fair.
My Spyderco shipped today. Should have my $125 Sage next week. Can't wait lol! I'll post back with photos.David

Thanked: 4EC,
I've ben collecting knives for a few years now, as well as firearms and fountain pens but I digress. Went through numerous Chris Reeve, Benchmade, Rick Hinderer (still have a couple), Strider, Zero Tolerance, etc. In the last few months I have come to realize that FOR ME, and my EDC needs it is just about impossible to beat my Spydercos. And lately, I've really started to realize that I don't need a 3.5 - 4" blade for EDC, and have really grown to appreciate my Spyderco Delicas. (Still have a collection of other larger Spydercos) I'm not planning on using a knife as my primary defensive tool, that's what my gun is for. With that said when I HAVE to go unarmed, I will carry a larger knife. Just my .02

Got my Spiderco today! Woot.
Fit / finish / ergos are outstanding. Sorry about the photos.
Alas - it's too big. Takes too much room in the pocket. Think I'll just get that Benchmade 531 and be done with it... Even with its steel.
If anyone has a recommendation - I would love to hear. I want a 3.5 blade that'll not occupy too much space.David

Thanked: 284I've got a number of benchmade knives, and carried the mini-grip until I lost it. I bought the 530 and currently carry that everyday. I think that's about the thinnest and lightest high quality knife out there. It's got a 3.25" blade which is close to what you're looking for. It's just as amazing amount of blade for the package. The blade is on the thinner side, so I wouldn't exactly be pounding on it with a hammer to cut through a tree
So far I love it, no issues yet. My dad has the combo blade version.I love living in the past...
