Okay, I'm not all that great posting photos

This is a Damacus Bud Nealy Kinzhal, an Al Polkowski Pal and a Billy's Blades Utility Camp.

A George Walker Damascus Boot Knife, Ron Gaston No. 29 and a Ron Gaston No.5.

This is a Hal Solum Bowie made from a Harley primary chain, Hal Solum bird & trout knife and a Tommy Lee Damascus Swinger with Rain Drop Mikune bolsters.

    I don't collect. Anything.
I thought about collecting knives and straights. But I figured that if I can't use something, there is really no point in owning it. I never understood people who'd pay 1000$ or more for a drawer queen.

Otoh the handful of expensive things that I did buy see use. I don't care if I scuff them. I will care for them of course, but if they get worn by seeing use, then so be it.

I would much rather make a razor for someone who'll use it than for someone who'd put it in a glass display case. Imo it is impossible to appreciate a tool if you don't use it.

I sort of collect knives but they all see use. You don't have to have drawer queens to collect things.

Tactical folders are about the one thing I never got into... can anyone suggest a nice assisted opening suggestion? Perhaps I'll pick one up when I'm feeling flush next. Most of my larger knives only see use while say camping... smaller ones rotate the pockets

Mine were also bought for use, not as collectors' pieces.

    • Ek single-edge, paracord grip and brass hilt, circa 1970
    • D.H. Russell Canadian Belt Knife, also circa 1970
    • Victorinox folders, some have a wood saw, bought for canoeing/camping/hunting
    • A couple of Mora knives, kept as backups in the pack, canoe, car, etc...

The Russell Canadian has prepared more game than I can remember, small and large.

Several others, but the previous are the ones most used and valued. My pocket folders see frequent use for slicing fruit and even at some restaurants (their knives are almost universally too dull).
