the M9 must been after I got out. The M8 was the same one they used on the M1 carbine. But ours had a rubber grip and the original had stacked leather.

I've got a Cold Steel SRK, i've put that thing through some abuse and its always come out the other end just fine.

It sharpens up a treat and holds a nice sharp edge for a long time.

    Just my 2c worth.

I love ka bar and always have one on me for camping and such but as for carry(I don't leave the house without a pocket knife..(must be my years on nautical vessels) I typically have either a Spyderco folding half screated or a Benchmade Mel Pardue pre production tanto.

Ka bar are a nice knife, but I never got one, I had enough stuff to carry in my kit. We had a few guys who had them and they loved them.

I'm deployed to the Middle East and my Leatherman wave plus the Surefire echo fixed blade never leave my side. Benchmade also makes many fine knives. Add to that my Surefire A2L aviator light and I'm set for night missions as well.

I don't carry or deploy with anything that I will not use or I can not trust 100%. If you can't trust your life to whatever knife you carry, it's not worth carrying.
