Hi & welcome to SRP. So sorry I'm late to the party. I missed a couple of new people because of the death of a close friend very recently. There's a wealth of information on here. Looks like you got a good start so just keep moving forward. Any questions, just ask.
    Good luck my friend.

Thanks, and sorry to hear about your friend.

I'm letting my neck heal niw, as I managed to slice it up saturday. Not quite sure what I did, but I'm anxious to give it another go! I've been considering sending my razor out to be professionally hones, but after a stropping, I was able to cut some free standing arm hairs. I think I'm going to give it a go as is and see how it turns out. Wish me luck, haha!

Thank you. It was my righthand man's mother but she loved me & she suffered with stage 4 lung cancer for a year longer than she was expected to live. The funeral was yesterday morning.
You might be ok since you were able to cut some free standing arm hairs after stropping but it couldn't hurt to send it out for a pro hone. It will give you some idea of what one should be like when honed right. You might want to get a spare for when you do send one out.
    Good luck.

Sounds like she was fighter! I find that a death is easier to deal with when it's not sudden. Still a very rough thing, though.

Ive been considering getting another blade, bit I started slowly not knowing how I would like it.

I have a bad habit of jumping into new hobbies feet first and not liking them. Like when I bought the turn tables and mixer because I wanted to DJ at home . That $400 lasted me about 2 hours. Sold the 2 turn tables and mixer for $40 :/ Or when I bought the $500 rc helicopter and only flew it about 30 times. 8 was able to get about $400 out of it, though. This is different, though..I hope haha. I've only shaved 5 tines with it so far, but can't wait to get back up and going again. I really want a Thiers-Issard, but I doubt I'll find a descent one, even used, in my budget of about $80.

You need to look up Whipped Dog razors. Get a sight unseen for about $30. He will send you a shave ready straight that's not pretty, but will shave. You can use that one while you send your AOS out for honing. Good luck with it.
If I told you I was a liar, would you believe me?
