It didn't change the frequency of my shave, BUT it did change the comfort level. No ingrown hairs or razor burn ever now, which is one of the main reasons I switched.

I started on a Russian razor of some sort I got off of eBay, now I use either a dovo or my custom.

For your daughter who's interested, I'd let her use your's (if you don't mind), just tell her to go slowly especially around knees and ankles. Otherwise, I've cut myself once and it was because I was going to fast. So slow and steady wins this race I feel.
    Thanks..
Sounds like you've got right gear for the job.[emoji106]
My daughter is a fairly large girl.
What advice would you have for the back of her calfs ( would be a blind spot IMO for her), DE maybe, till she's comfortable with the str8?

Sooner or later someone will be impolite. Since you're here, I'm sure you know how to handle that, but if a problem persists, pm a moderator...and welcome again!
Lol, I figured. Luckily enough, I grew up with brothers and am in a male dominated field so I can handle a certain amount. Of course, if it gets ridiculous, I'll go to the moderators.

Oh yes, absolutely. A DE or single edge is a great starter that way. I went from cartridge to DE to straight.

If she has a blind spot, I'd definitely work with a DE until she's comfortable enough to feel like she can shave without looking all the time. That's when I moved up to a straight.

She will love the DE compared to cartridge for sure. But, I'd suggest she try multiple blades until she finds the ones that are perfect for her skin. Also, I'd suggest she use actual wet shaver soap too, not shaving cream. I started with shaving cream, but honestly, it wasn't slick enough and ended up not being worth it. When I started using shave soap for wet shaving, I found my match! :-)

She's more than welcome to ask me anything too, or anyone I'm sure. I kind of lurked on forums and dove in.

If you should ever get inflicted with RAD (razor acquiring disorder) and want to restore old or broken blades, check out the thread in the work shop called butchered blade.
The guys there do some really cool stuff, and will help you accomplish the task at hand, at least try the very best we can.

    Welcome to the forum!

Are you leaning towards the new production straight razors or the beautiful old vintage blades, notice you mention you have a nice old Wade and Butcher, I have a few of those, they are pretty much my favorite.
