Thanked: 3795If you update your profile to include your location, or if you just state it here, then you will increase the likelihood of finding someone to help you with one on one help. Also, it helps for notifications for meet-ups. Another option is to do an advanced search based on location in the members list under the community tab of the toolbar.
Regardless of the approach used, if you can find someone competent to give you one on one help, then you will improve your honing much faster.
You have a pretty good set of hones!

Welcome to SRP! Sounds like you are off to a good start and have already found some of the pitfalls.

...And that's why I hesitated to respond.
Welcome Ciarad. Rather than suggest anything, I'm gonna listen to what you have to say. My GF likes my interest in shaving and has sampled many of my soaps. She still uses her cart razor. I'm in no hurry to get her into DE or Straights because I'd have to share my toys!To deobfuscate is to convert something that is difficult to un͝d̡͝e҉͞r̴͝st̨̕a͘͢n̢̛d̕̕ ̧͝
into one that is simple, understandable and straightforward.

Thanked: 2591This is a discussion thread and therefore responses are welcome. In the past, when we still had the Ladies Corner, we have had plenty of instances where members made remarks that were not acceptable for the nature of the discussion. As long as we keep things respectful all will be fine.

Greetings & hearty welcome Ciarad. 'Nice to have you.
I hope you enjoy your time here & I think you'll find attitudes of helpfulness dominate - which is good.
Your experience will be most valued. When asked by a lady about what blades to pursue - I've not known whom to ask about what works best (size/grind/steel). I think you'll find you have a strong contribution as well as getting some good help.
All Best to you & yours.

Hi Ciarad & welcome aboard. Sorry I'm late to the party, I was out most of the day yesterday & I'm getting ready to be gone again but I wanted to drop a welcome "hello". Many women don't know what they're missing out on when it comes to a straight razor. My number one choice is a straight & if I'm in a hurry & need to get somewhere, I'll use my one of old Gillette DE razor's. It's sad they got rid of the "Ladies Corner" but when others start being disrespectful, the mods step in. I see you have gotten quite a bit of good information so far so just click on whatever you can click on & you will just find more & more interesting info. Glad to have you here.
Good luck my friend.

Thanked: 55Welcome. Had wondered why ladies corner vanished. Never commented there as not a lady. Some of us never grow up. Some of us never grow up but know the meaning of respect. One of my mates is still trying to get his DE back from his ex after saying she should try it while still with her. Didn't notice it had left with her as I'd gotten him into straights with a nice Bengall at about the same time.
All the best. Vast majority on here are true gents. It's always the few .........s."Ignorance is preferable to error, and he is less remote from the truth who believes nothing than he who believes what is wrong."-Thomas Jefferson (Notes on Virginia, 1782)
