Hello from the shade of Pike's Peak.
Hi all. Been a member of another forum and now am enjoying straight razor shaving so i thought id better get over here and join up. Been SR shaving for 3 weeks now and have 6 Straights, 7 brushes, more soap than i know what to do with and about 20 DE's. Havent used a DE sense i picked up a straight. Enjoy it alot and dont plan on going back ever. SR's cost a bit more but i know i will soon have a wall full on display.
I live in Colorado Springs and hall Gas for a living. Hence the title. I would have went with my other title but i guess over here it is taken. Bummer.
Thanks for any help and instruction i get from you all and hope to learn lots. It's just Sharpening, right?

Tha ks guys. I plan on going over the library with a fine toothed comb. And when i picked up a straight the first time i admit i had shakey hands but it went so well for me i just picked it up without any issue. Ive now cut myself twice. Operator error and i know what went wrong so that shouldnt happen again. Ive tried 9 different razors now, 6 were loners to play with so i have a tiny idea of what works for me and what i like.
I have not learned to hone or even own a stone yet but in the next few.months ill give that a go too. Made my first set.of scales a few days.ago but havent finished them yet. Reknotted three brushes and used DE's for 6 months.
There you go. Thats me. Jump in with both feet.and do a job to the fullest! It's just Sharpening, right?

Its very hard fir me to make gatherings like that. I work 75 to 80 hrs a week and the last thing id want to do is drive to denver on my day off as i drive to denver everyday i work.
I go to denver to load the truck then head for bteckenridge or steamboat springs or craig. I run the mountain stores. Lots of snow and ice and ill be driving my bomb across it. Ha.
So you can understand why i wouldnt want to drive to denver on my day off.i drive between 500 and 600 miles a day. On my days off i let the wife drive me around for shopping and such.
