    the thai food you get in the US, is somewhat close, but not what you're gunna eat there. where I live, if it moves, it get's eaten, xcept for dogs n cats.. sometimes dog in the north east area, but frowned upon nowadays. Fish, left out to rot for awhile, then turned into 'pralat', nasty fermented stuff. they love it. my MIL ( mother in law ) who is part Lao, supervises me at the table, I'll try anything, so she has to tell me, "no, not that, that one will make you sick".
    Lots of alcoholics... and chain smokers. :-)
