Thanked: 0Greetings from the Jersey Shore
Hi all. Started straight shaving a week ago. I picked up a Wade and Butcher 20 years ago at an antique store in Gettysburg PA. Just thought it was neat. Never thought about actually using it til recently. Sent it off to WhippedDog. Great job btw. Can't get as close a shave as my DE razors, but it's Uber comfortable. Pretty amazing. Also I've used a shavette in rotation for a couple of years, so not a true novice, but still loads to learn. All sorts of great info here. Anyways ,Thanks Gents!

Thanked: 315Welcome to the forum! My DE is still my go to razor, but when I have time to slow down sometimes I'll get a SR out.
A lot of history and they will last a lifetime if taken care of (or lifetimes in some cases).
What kind of Strop are you using?

Thanked: 0Thanks guys. My razor keeps getting sharper. Not really, but my technique is improving. Lol. JP5 I'm currently using an old suitable belt, but ordered the poor man's strop kit from whipped dog. So far so good. I also have a Green Lizard that isn't quite shave ready, but hasn't stopped me from trying.

Welcome, RXman.
Enjoy your shaves, they will get better over time.
I've been a Str8 shaver for over 30 yrs., and I can say I'm faster, and get better shaves from the straight, than with a DE. But that's me.!
Glad to have you with us.Mike
