Welcome aboard, nice razor, good quality.

You could use a SE razor blade, and cut away any active rust without scratching the blade. It would show how bad things are below. It may just be surface rust.! That and we could get a better look at it.

    Welcome to SRP!
Knock off that rust like Outback said and post up what you got with closer pics. If you're a little handy we can walk you thru a basic clean-up. Then you will just need a honing. You must have soap and a brush so you will need to pick-up a strop and you will be good to go to start the learning proses. Remember that it takes 100+ shaves with a straight before you really start to understand what you're doing. So, don't get discouraged. Just keep at it and we will be here to help you along.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

I won't take anything away from great advise given.
    Welcome!

My Canuck SRP brothers are the absolute best. A great pile to be in on.

Oh! We all know Connie's name! Are you 'the Hawk'?

Thanks Jerry @gasman for the welcome and the tips, I did a little scraping on the blade and it seems to have been surface rust, I still need some advise on the clean up and repairing the scale.
The scales are celuloid I think and on one there is a crack where the blade is pinned on, I didn't notice it until I got home. I'm hoping I can repair it without having to remove or have them replaced. I'm trying to attach the pics, not sure if they uploaded.

@sharptonn, thanks for the welcome, I don't think you have the right Connie, my wife retained her mating* name (Ricky-ism, for maiden*, Ricky from Trailer Park Boys). I've been using 'redtailedhawk' online and in various forums for years, the Red Tailed Hawk became my favourite bird from many years of having close and frequent encounters with them, I even had Robert Bateman's painting of one tattooed on my right upper arm.

Oh, I was just poking how you told us your wife's name, yet not yours.
    That's all!
