Well if it was surface rust them some steel wool and metal polish can clean up that blade. Just remember to be careful of that edge. A dull razor will take a finger tip off before you know it. As far as the scale crack, pics are needed. Celuloid is not fixable very easily. Most of us just replace them. And pinning is not hard to do. Cost is very little for the parts. Or just send it out to one of your northern buddies here on SRP to get fixed up.
If you want to make scales yourself! Read about it in the library. Lots of good info on scale making.
As far as your name, some of us put our name in the signature area. Its in the settings somewhere. It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 2284If there's any gold on that blade etch, metal polish will take it clean off. Just be aware of that.

Thanked: 2Hello everyone, thanks for all the welcome messages and great advise, I started cleaning up the blade today with a soft toothbrush, dish detergent and water. It seems to be progressing OK, I just applied some machine oil to the rusty spots in hopes that it will help remove some of it.
The next thing to do is the scales, it's a long shot to be able to repair them because they are celluloid, I'm doing some research on the type of glue that may work. Many years ago I worked in retail musical instrument sales and repairs and the guitar tech was usually able to successfully repair the celluloid bindings on wooden instruments like old guitars, I realize that this is quite a different application, but like I said, it's a long shot, lol. Worse case is that I'll have to get them replaced, I'll wait to see how the blade cleans up first though.
I'll update again later, thanks again, Larry.
