Hello Martyin and welcome to SRP.
Take your time and enjoy the learning phase of straight razor shaving.
It will take a while but is well worth the effort.
Have fun!

Aloha!
Welcome to SRP. The members here are among the finest I have seen in any shaving Forum. You've come to the right place.
I started the same as you many decades ago when I inherited my Grandfather's Solingen Straight Razor. It's been a love affair ever since.
Enjoy the journey.

Welcome. Lots to read here, check out the library, it will get you going on terms, how to’s, etc...
There’s some good restorers on your side of the pond, assuming your heirloom razor needs any honing or restorative work.

Welcome to SRP. Ask and we will be happy to help. Take your time. With a straight you never hurry! It causes pink lather and nobody wants that.
It's just Sharpening, right?
