Hello Gimli, welcome to the forum. I'm in Canberra now for some work, staying in Oz for about 6 weeks. I've got a friend in Perth, wish I could visit, but it doesn't seem feasible this time around. Australia is a beautiful country, and people are very nice, friendly and helpful to us foreigners. Anyway good to have you, hope you enjoy the conversation...and get rid of that beard hah! (just kidding, all in good time eh)

Welcome to the forum. While a bit far from you I have a mate down your way who is quite knowledgeable about all things in involving straight razors including honing and restoration. He's in Sydney. He's also a Senior Mod here at SRP. You can contact him here:

By the way--pictures of your gifted razor from your father would be very much appreciated.

    Ps pop = grandad

Is pop an American term for father? Coz I have never known it to be that, only grandad

    Interesting

    Hello and welcome aboard!
I'd say the best place to be is SRP. You can always shave your neck and keep the beard?
Here in the states we seem to call our dad's pops when he gets a bit older, but that may just be my family.
All great suggestions above of course, you're in good hands here!

Edit: Just realized I kinda welcomed you in another thread.. So welcome one more time for good measure!
