    Default Introduction

    Hello,

My name is Phillip and I am in North Carolina, USA.

I have just started researching using a straight razor. I have had the feeling of getting back to the older ways of doing things in my life and this is one of them. Any advice on equipment brands and such a welcome.

I am left handed so I have been wondering if this would be a hinderance to me learning, but I am willing to give it a try.

I hope to post more in the future and I will continue with my research.

First Off, Welcome. I'm in Jacksonville, Fl. Not too far...As far as left handed, it doesn't matter. Actually, if you can learn to use both hands for straight razor shaving, it's beneficial. I don't know what your budget is, As far brands go, Dovo is a good starter razor. My first razor was a Dovo Bismarck. There's a wide variety of styles and pricing. The Classifieds here are also an excellent source for finding used razors and equipment. I would read the WIKI here, the beginners section, there's even a section on what you should buy....I hope this helps, Feel free to ask questions, or drop me a PM...

    P.S.

I do a lot of business with Straight razor designs, Vintage blades and classic shaving. Anyone of these vendors will help you....

    G'day & welcome Phillip.
Equipment brands are very much a personal choice but make sure whether you buy new or used that you buy a "shave ready" razor.
Zib has already steered you to the Wiki so you're off to a good start.
