Thanked: 0Hi I am new :)
I thought this would be the perfect place to meet people with an understanding of what I have.
My father was a barber in the old style. I inherited his tools. His brush I cherish as the bristles are worn to his hand and when I miss him I hold the brush and feel his hand.
But his blades I don't understand. He has some plastic Tondeo things that he inserts blades into for hair. These are straight forward and not very interesting.
The blade that is exciting to me is the one in the blue box with gold lettering. The Gotta Razor. Inside the actual razor has the word Magic and Pat.Reg. on it and when I open it the blade part splits open but there is no sharp blade.
I don't think it has been used much as the shiny part has no scratches.
Does anybody have a name for this type of implement? I know it is a type of razor but what? I have pics but am not sure how to upload on this forum.
I am looking for enlightenment as to what this is called. I have looked on the internet but with no luck.
thanks for any inputLast edited by Lillian; 08-27-2010 at 09:31 AM.

I believe this is called a Shavette type razor. You insert a single edged razor blade into it, then shave away,no stropping required.

Thanked: 227If you go to the advanced panel for posting (theres a button that says "Go Advanced" at bottom of page) then scroll to the bottom there's an area for managing photos, it's just a matter of browsing to them on your computer.
I'd love t see this as I never knew Gottas came as a shavette.

Thanked: 0I have 3 shavettes in various colors and a black one
but the razor I am refering to does not look like a shavette.
When I get home tonight I will post pics of both my shavettes and the razor so you can see the differences.
I have been trawling the net trying to find one like mine and have not been able to find one.
I will post pics as soon as I get home as i am excited to see if any of you may be able to shed some light.
Thank you all so much for reading my post

This is the only Magic razor I found with the markings you mention.. if similar its a shavette.

Thanked: 240Welcome to SRP, the people here are some of the best I have ever met (still only online haven't had the opportunity to meet any in person...yet). I can't offer any advice on your mystery razor but I'm sure if you can post some pics the experts here will quickly be able to identify it for you.
