Let me introduce myself as Brucey from England - came across this site via eBay sublink from Taylors 1000 who sells Cutthroats.

Just purchased a Silver Tipped Badger Bristle Brush from Taylors of Old Bond Street London along with their Sandalwood Soap.

    Also in my armoury:
    Geo Trumper Sandalwood Skin Food
    Geo Trumper Sandalwood Creme
Geo Trumper Alum Block - In my opinion the best I have used

    Body Shop Macca Root Creme
Body Shop White Musk for men Aftershave Balm
    Headers Barbers Alum Block

    Dovo Shavette
    Gillette Double Edge Razor
    Gillette Mach 3

And my favorite old Shaving Jug

Wishing I had stumbled uopn this website sooner after todays shaving attempt having had to revert back to my double edge Gillette razor to get me out of a messy situation !!!.

Have just ordered the Shaving DVD via this site hopefully will give me some good advice and some more background knowledge on the Cutthroat.

If you are reverting to the DE from the shavette, then I am not surprised. My trial of the Dovo shavette found it very unforgiving compared to my straight razor.

    Default Dovo Shavette

Yes the damage was done by the Shavette - I think it's best that this item gets stowed away for just cleaning my neckline up rather than daily shaving I thought it may be a good introduction to the Straight Razor but alas it's proving otherwise I will continue to use the Gillette Double Edge untill the purchase of a Cutthroat in the very near future.

I have just read an article on using Castle Forbes products an avenue I will adventure down when my current collection of creams and balms are used.

Welcome Brucey. Castle Forbes products are excellent, especially the Lime shave cream.
Truefitt and Hill are also some of my favorites, and I recommend them. The 1805 especially. We also have a few members that make their own creams. One worty of mention is Alraz. You can send him a pm here. His shave creams are among the best.
Also, availble in the UK is Xpec. A shave soaps that looks and acts more like a cream.

As far as shave balms go, Speick is excellent, especially the Intensiv cream. Taylor of old bond st. makes something called
Sandalwood luxury aftershave gel. This stuff is thick and smells wonderful. It the only balm I've found that will stay with you for hours and hours. It's particularly good for After shave burn, it's thick, like grease...Its expensive, but good stuff always is..

Check our classifieds here. You can find some great deals on straight razors if you wish to give it a go.

    Enjoy,

    Rich
