Thanked: 22Joshua,
Welcome to the world of straight razors..Its always nice to see another Toronto guy here. (OK, technically I'm in Vaughan, but close enough)
You've gotten some great advice so far and there's not much more I can add except to say, take it slow, learn your way around and enjoy the experience.
You're a few weeks late for the Toronto area meet up we had back in October, but a new local member demands that we start talking about another meet up
Cheers,
Joe

I'm going to have to agree with Joe on this one.

LOL Not often but I stick with pre1850 razors and the more rustic the better
Contact your local shavers and try getting in on the meet and greats. You'll see alot of gear and razors that you can start finding what you really like faster that way Plus the tips on just about everything involved. By experiencing different ways you can experience new ways to get the job done, and there are many "right ways" as well as wrong to get the job done. Going to the "Meets" is allot of fun and practical

Thanked: 0Just took the plunge and ordered a set off of SRD. Will be looking to pick up another for the rotation from the classifieds.
When I absolutely wreck the edge on both of them in the first week, is there a good place to get them honed?
As for meet ups, I always love the idea. You try and talk to people about things like this and they just don't understand!
Its like trying explain to someone why you just spend 500 dollars on a custom kitchen knife that won't be done for 8 months. They'll think your crazy!
At the meetups or on the forums they'll think its the greatest idea in the world!
