Thanked: 0Thanks Charles. Is there a place on the forum to get advice on what to purchase for a beginner? I can do mail order, but if I don't know what to buy.....

Thanked: 0Thanks for the information. You have given me some good steering there. As for the cost, at $200-350/tire for my 4x4 hobby (jeeps), this will be within the budget.
I'll check the links,as the only purchase so far is a razor. From the feedback, it appears that this member is a very good seller to deal with, and I kind of like the vintage stuff:

Cheap enough, and should get me started fine.
So are you saying that it means the same thing, or that Fendrihan's are not shave ready? Thanks.

Thanked: 275Maxi --
I was going through the Fendrihan website. Some razors were "factory" edge (with a warning), and others were "pre-sharpened".
For an example of "factory edge":

PS (to the original poster) -- Maxi is one of our Eastern Canadian honemeisters. Might be a good person to keep in mind if you run into trouble.

Thanked: 1195Welcome to SRP, dunl.
You've got some sound advice so far. Alberta is pretty dry as far as shaving supplies go, especially Edmonton. I heard a couple members had some great luck recently in Lethbridge, though I suspect the two of them have cleaned out that antique store by now. Funny enough the only local find I've run across was at an outdoor flea market at Pigeon Lake, not far from either of us. Outside of online sales, flea markets and antique store are probably your best bet. Happy hunting.

Thanked: 3222Hey welcome to the forum from another Canuk. You could add the Classic Edge The Classic Edge Shaving Store Your Straight Razor Specialists. who is also a sponsor here to your list of Canadian on line stores. I have dealt with them and have had good service. It is pretty dry around me too as far as finding straight razors and other supplies too. Finding shave creams is not too hard if you look at Shoppers Drug Mart (Proraso), Zellers (Nivea), Safeways (Kaloderma) and the Body Shop (Mecca Root) to mention a couple. Have fun and enjoy your new adventure.
