G'day Brendan, I live fairly close to you as well, so welcome aboard and feel free to contact me if you want a hand with anything to do with the mighty Cut-Throat razor. Strops are easy enough to make and I can show you how if you want. You live right near my preferred Tannery. I'm a DE user as well, so I might even be able to advise in some small way with that too.

thanks again for the welcome guys I am amazed at how friendly everybody appears on the forum, it is really great to see the camaraderie and willingness to pass on the knowledge of the group!

I am up in Forest Ridge so a little way from Packer leather(there was a fire there not long ago that all the mother groups were crying about how they are too close to houses and all this garbage even tho the houses were there AFTER the tannery)

sounds like a great idea making your own strops!
I am leaning toward getting a full basic kit out with a poor man strop and straight blade and a brush and styptic pencil and soap sampler from Larry at Whipped dog and go from there.

Look forward to learning and meeting up with everybody

Yes I saw that on the news about the fire. People should not buy land so close to industry, if they want to avoid problems. Anyway mate. You won't go wrong with a whippeddog deal. It won't be pretty, but it will get you on the road to cut-throat razor shaving with very servicable gear.

Welcome mate. I've come to the conclusion that if you can't get an answer to a question on here, it ain't worth asking haha.

I might give some of you aussie guys a shout when I'm over in october or november, if I'm near any of you.

I'll be starting in Sydney and heading up the easy coast to finish off where I didn't see before (spend too much time with family in Melb. Will most likely stopping in brissy on the way up.
