cool i will try that then.....now i´m trying not to get ahead of myself (hard thing for me) but would it be a good idea to get a whetstone at this point? and if so, I,ve seen a yaxell 3000/8000 grit. would that be ok?

no need for a stone at this point if you are only touching up edges a simple barber's hone or a finisher is all you should be needing for a good long while
i have never heard of the yaxell brand but if you ask that down in the hone section there might be some folks around who have tried them out.
enjoy,

Balsa wood can be a little to aggressive, I think. Buy a plain piece of leather from someone who works with it (like a tailor) and then put the leather piece on a table and strop carefully (no pressure other than the razors own weight). Or buy a basic strop from Neil Miller at the strop-shop in England (very good value) or from someone else that are connected to these forums (lots of crap Ebay strops out there). Good luck!

hmmm ok allready ordered some but they were not expensive (phew) agressive you say so it could be a little link between real honing and a barbers hone?
i Already have 2 dovo strops i will try to lay 1 flat on the table then and practice real slow .... (i think i read that somewhere..about the strop flat on a surface....but it begins to flow together..all that reading)
and the razor came back from hone.. ... will try it on friday i think...when I´m not dogtired from getting up at 4 in the morning (zzzzzz) and can be a little more focusedLast edited by Gargoyle47; 02-06-2013 at 04:44 PM.

bahhhh couldn´t help myself could I?, efter eyeing the razor I simply HAD to try.....so i shaved the sides of the face and luckily no nicks.... the idiotic part is i cut myself with my old fusion razor when i finished up on the chin and neck
but the straight felt nice....no tugging on beard or anything... only tried WTG

Well done and smart move (to go WTG and on the easier parts) and yes, put the strop on a flat surface and strop slowly is a good way to start.
