Whoops - I completely missed your question - sorry about that!

I don't think it's out of line to have continued this tread in this section at all because it still relates to what you mentioned in your intro.

If you have any specific questions about the items you bought, how best to use them, etc., then that would be the ideal time to start a new thread in the appropriate forum.

BTW, I think your miniature soap and brush is an excellent idea! I should see just what I could fit in there...

Dopp kit = traditional style (usually leather) travel shave kit. Something like:

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

It looks like I forgot to mention the Straight Razor that came with my original purchase,
A German Dovo straight razor “Sologen Best Quality”
5/8 inch wide, half-hollow ground blade
Etched branding on blade. It's only been used a couple of times so basically brand new.
I best get comfortable with the safety razor before I take on this bad baby.

As it is I can hardly get all my stuff in a dopp kit.
I go light with clothes and everything else but when it comes to toiletries I'm a hoarder.

Be sure to put your loaded razor in a safe wrap so there are no surprizes when you reach in....voice of experience unfortunately.

Thanks for the tip, i'll keep in mind, thanks.
That brings up a question and that's how do you/should I wrap/contain my brush prior to stashing in the dopp kit so that the bristles are protected?
Should I bag it the same way?
BTW the brush slides nicely in a empty toilet roll.

You could try something like this:

I don't know if it would fit your brush or not, but it's worth a look for $12

Before I bought a travel brush that goes into its own holder, I was thinking of alternatives that I could make. Although I didn't actually make it, I still think this could work:

    - get some plastic pipe in whatever diameter your brush will fit
    - get a couple of caps - one glued to one end, the other left removable (threaded would be ideal)
    - drill a bunch of holes in it to allow for drying

Like I say, I never made it, but in theory I think it would work great.

Some guys also have used plastic pill bottles, and as long as you have the right size, I bet that would be even better.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
