My problem with this test is the material itself. It is not hair doesn't behave or is structured like hair and could be made of many different synthetic materials which would complicate things like consistency as a test. At least a hanging hair test uses hair and maybe might be somewhat closer to a test that involves cutting hair. Cutting strands of rayon or nylon or whatever synthetic hair might be made of just doesn't sound helpful. If you need a test is it really so hard to find some real hair lying around on a brush maybe.
