Thanked: 3228I guess it would depend a lot on the type of metal stored in leather, the way the leather was tanned and the humidity levels of the environment. I have seen some gawd awful verdigris formed on items stored long term in leather. I am like Hirlau in that I have always viewed leather as a temporary home for items.

I agree with Hirlau as well and don't store razor long term in a leather pouch. I do use them for travel and I like them quite a bit. I have several. The ones with the strip in front that the closure slips under are the ones I prefer. I have two different snap kinds. One has a strip of material glued onto the back of the snap button and the other one doesn't. The one that doesn't sits in my drawer - it's just too easy to scratch a scale or press down on the snap and damage a razor. I don't know why anyone would make them without protective material covering the back side of the button. I was very disappointed when I got it.

The SRD leather pouches have worked fine for long-term storage. Over 5 year’s use and no issues with either the black or brown pouch harming razors. They are fairly soft, however, so I’m sure a rigid leather pouch may be better suited for protecting a razor during travel.
