This one is mine, it came with a nice shaving lot. I looked them up at ebay.de to see if these were worth anything and saw multiple clippers go unsold for €0.99
Normally I use an electrical clipper but it may be fun to give this one a try.Last edited by Piet; 12-26-2010 at 02:32 PM.

Thanked: 335The devil's delight
Awful, cruel devices. This was the first tool my dad used to cut my hair. A pull with each snip. Nickel plated sadism.
Three hundred pound anvils and six pound hammers are the perfect tools for tuning up these devices.

I just broke down and bought an Oster Powerline.
Oster Professional Products
Should have bought one in the first place. I think I've bought 3 cheapies over that last few years that would have paid for the pro model.
Bought it at Appleton.
Barber Supplies - Barbershop Equipment - Oster Power Line Clipper
When the power goes out I hope you will let me borrow the hand-clippers.

I gave my hair clippers a try but it hurt, perhaps it needs to be oiled first? I would give mine away for free but unfortunately shipping parcels starts at 0-2kg and is expensive

I'm not certain that manual v. electric clipppers offer as much improvement as cutthroat v. Mach 3.

Thanked: 983I got a similar set of clippers as Piet just yesterday. Mine came with scissors and a hair filled comb (Yuck) but with a decent clean they should be pretty good, the clippers, not the comb. The comb is destined for the bin.
It isn't a case of if the manual clippers are better than the modern electric ones. It is more about not having to rely on the electricity always being there just when you need it. Or if you choose to live in a cabin in the back of the sticks somewhere.
My clippers will be finding a home in my two room cabin out on the property.
Piet, you have to keep clipping while you move those things, even as you move away from the hair. Otherwise you might just be pulling out hair as you go.

I'd love to try a set of these manual clippers set to 1/4 inch. I use a number 2 clipper blade. I like to keep my hair short... 1/4 inch short. I guess if the power goes out for good I'll either shave my head or let it grow out till the power comes back on.
