Thanked: 24I think it would be nice to have vertical edges on the inside to break up the lather as you mix it ( something like an old spice mug would have ). I really like the design but would liketo see the spout more round so a stopper could be fitted to it to help hold the heat.
Really like it,

Nice project! Finish this one and then try other things. Otherwise the input becomes too great and nothing is finished!
Just a thought, If the spout was open to the cup only at the bottom, like a tea pot, little heat would be lost. Since you are doing two pieces, the water would seek its own level as air could escape. I have seen, not used, a couple old scuttles that had that feature. A slightly sloppy fit of the upper cup will leave room for glaze, also leave a hole in the end of the grip if it is hollow. {don't ask!}

all good points! I plan on finishing this one as is and trying some other things with additional ones. One thing I have noticed is that the water capacity volume in this design will be somewhat less than in designs with more rounded sides, which is another reason to go bigger with the next one. The handle is hollow and does have a small vent hole on the bottom.

I like it
I am also thinking less of a spout and more of a water adding port. I think that the round handle looks great on it. I am thinking I like the two pieces and lines inside the bowl. Can't wait to get this on the market. What's taking so long? Got my check waiting.

My concern about two separate pieces is whether the inner bowl would "float" when you fill the outer space with enough hot water to do the job. That, and I am such a klutz, that I'd undoubtedly pour it with the inner bowl in place and break it.
Great work.

scuttle update
Whats taking so long? LOL well its almost dry enuf to fire.in the kiln. This week for sure! Also, I am trying making a slightly bigger one for Nightshade. Its just very wet clay at this point but I'll attach pics with it beside the other one for comparison. The big one's about 5" across with a shallow bowl as I thought the other might need wore volume of water to retain heat for a long time. I also am wondering about the loose bowl, so I think I am going to try one with a fused bowl to compare.
