I don't think of myself as a collector, more as a user. We have two 15" skillets, two 12", a 10", an 8", and two medium dutch ovens, cast iron lids for all except the 15's, which share a glass lid from Amazon. Most of the iron is just recent Lodge stuff but nothing wrong with that. One of the big skillets was salvaged and reconditioned with drill and paint stripper pad, worked down to the white, and reseasoned over a period of several weeks. One dutch oven came from thrift store. The rest are all bought new or hammy downs. Oh I almost forgot, two comals, too. Very useful on Taco Tuesday. One of them is cracked and I am thinking about welding it up before it goes all the way. I did one before for someone else. Not as straightforward as you might think. Worth the trouble? No, not considering the price of a new one, but it was fun to do the one I did.

I'm gonna say that's a staged marketing pic LOL. Toast never looks that good coming off one of those contraptions! I've gotten close but only on rare occasions. Good memories.

I KNOW it's a staged picture--notice no heat marks on the toaster?

With that said, I used one for 25 years camping and with careful attention getting toast to look like that is not only possible but it can be done consecutively

Ok I could use the broiler but that is a pain in the ass.
Mine did not turn out as pretty as your picture but the on thing I did notice was that it was evenly heated throughout making the whole experience better.....

I use the toaster shown by Roy while camping but it tends to burn just the outside and not heat it overall.

I've found the key to having browned not burnt toast is to keep the flame low, keep flipping the bread top to bottom and side to side--it takes awhile but the effort is worth it.

Every once in awhile dad would make mom use the oven to 'bake toast' as that's how his mom did it when he was growing up. (Dad was 4 years old before the homestead had electricity)

Now ' Dry' toasted bread you say--

A pie tonight made with mostly hamburger, cabbage, hominy, eggs, and other minor things.

A little HP sauce spiced it up.

Don't know what they were cooking in the lodge but needs stripping right back and seasoning.
A newer one going by the label?
The toastie pie maker will be cleaned up and put to good use in the fire through winter.

I have never seen a double pie maker like that.
