Yes, there were nickel plated and some were chrome. This one looks to be of the nickel variety. The cooking surface will be non-plated

It is pretty clean and the cooking surface is nice. I am considering stripping it because this is my first vintage cast iron I have purchased and I'm skittish.
Is it not common practice to strip and re-season when you buy used cast iron?
