I use a glass top stove. Since my skillets are vintage they are pretty smoothe on the bottom. I just try to keep them clean and don't slide the skillets back and forth across the glass.
I am also stuck with a glass top since that's what was in the house when I bought it. The skillets I use have flat bottoms and I use them on the stove top. I do have one small one I use for cornbread and it has a raised ridge around the bottom. I only use that one in the oven.
