Thanked: 1160This is for you also Loon.... Tea Glasses for Tea Glass Holders, Crystal, Clear When you get your Podstakannik, Here's where you can find glasses. Also a cardinal rule when using a russian tea glass. Always have a metal spoon in the glass when pouring hot tea into it. The spoon absorbs the shock heat thus keeping the glass from breaking. You don't have to leave it in, just when first filling the glass. Go to an antique store and find a nice old looking teaspoon for it. Just like a teapot, these(Podstakannik) are treasures all in their own. Nostrovya Moi Druge !

Thanked: 1160What type of tea do Russians drink ? Black mostly . If you are wondering what exactly Russian Caravan tea is,here you go. Russian Caravan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Bear in mind the Russian tea that I drink (KUSMI Tea) is blended tea by a long standing tea blender who fled Russia during the revolution and set up shop in Paris. France was a big influence in Russia during the time of Peter the Great and Catherine, as well as an influence in Scotland which is interesting as both Russia and Scotland share the same Patron Saint (Andrew) and both cultures have Viking lineage as well. Then the similarities stop ? One of Czar Nicholas favorite "blends" was Bouquet de Fleurs(KUSMI tea blend invented by them) ) which was primarilly an Earl Grey with flower essence and citrus. As Opposed to English tea which is mostly Assams and Ceylons and Kenya teas......alot of Russian teas are Chinese in Origin due to the location. So you'll have blends of Keemun,Lapsang,Oolongs as the Wiki link explains. Also,Russians like on occasion fruit teas (Black tea with fruit essences) which is why Kusmi tea has so many blends that are just that. And most of their teas are Chinese blends of Blacks.
