Here you will see a pot of Grand Bois Cheri black tea from Bois Cheri, Mauritius:

It has a very nice vanilla taste—I believe a lot of Mauritian tea is mixed with vanilla to improve the flavour...something to do with it being cultivated at lower-than-optimum altitude.

A nice cup of tea, though, or so I think, however, it's not great for multiple steeps. After that first one, it loses a lot of that vanilla flavour that gives it its character...I might have used water a bit on the hot side as well, though.

Still can't seem to find decent lighting for my photos; plus, check me out it the teapot there!

I also have a question for anybody familiar with Japanese tea (if anyone Japanese could confirm, that would be great):

I have, in my cupboard, a packet of Miyazaki San Nen bancha. Most places on the internet seem to recommend sticking it in a kyusu and steeping for anywhere between 30 seconds and three minutes with hot to boiling water, depending on what site you're reading from.

I've heard, however, that the more traditional way is to bring it to the boil in a stove-top kettle and then allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes, though I can't actually find anywhere that confirms this method.

In essence, my question is how should one properly prepare bancha?

EDIT: I wonder how many times I can post with a different teapot in each photo...

I like a bloke who knows how to apply pepper properly! I had the exact same thing to eat for my breakfast this morning. Although I haven't hit the tea yet. I just settled for a cup of the instant coff...Wait! No I won't swear! I'm off to correct a discrepancy. I need to have a decent cup of tea. It will be Russian Caravan I reckon. That makes for a good first tea of the day. The next couple will be Pu-erh, and since I'm out of the Royal Ceylon, I will finish the day with Earl Grey.
