Nordic style is not spicy for one Paco. They use more lemon and dill as they're flavorings,Fins,Swedes,Norwegians all have similar style to this way. I used to have a sort of Bar owner boss who prided himself on being the know all cajun food king(NOT) and He would always ask me to cook his Cajun food for him for Mardi Gras here in Colorado. Like you I would throw in suasage, mushrooms, Bugs, corn ,potatoes whatever even made my own Cajun seasoning, and he would always try to torpedo me and say "That's not how they do in in New Orleans" ....Errgghh.....so agravating.
Yes Scandinavian style.
Maybe you used the wrong "Bugs".

Well, spring has sprung. Sometimes you go to the market looking for something specific and your whole game plan goes out the window because you yield to logic and buy what looks best. That was this evenings dinner - roast chicken, fiddle head ferns, fresh morel mushrooms, ramps, and a tarragon jus.
Oh hell !! Even sideways that looks yummy. Yer playin with my Michigan emotions now you are !!:D I sooo miss pickin Morels out in the woods.
Home made Ricotta Gnocchi, home made gravy. It was very tasty. Made it a few weeks ago, just never posted here before.

You know the real deal when they call it gravy and not sauce ......looks good !:chapeau
Second outing with the new BGE. Made some kebab with shrimp, chicken, mango, pineapple, onion, green pepper, and mushroom. On the side I grilled some peach and topped it with a bit of honey and crumbled Maytag blue cheese...
'Looks yummy! The only morel I've seen was in the veggie garden, though people seem to have good luck in the Cascades. More locally, its the Chantarelles. http://straightrazorpalace.com/finer...sful-hunt.html
After a breakfast of scrambled eggs with Morel mushrooms I went looking for some more. After getting rained on for 3 hours with no luck I decided to call it a day. Still fun. I scared up the smallest deer I have seen. I thought it was a fox at first. For dinner tonight we had ribs, Taquitos ,and Morels mixed with snap peas. The timing on the ribs was off and they took longer than thought. I thought no problem I can wait. When I finally went to plate up my meal I couldn't find the Morels and Peas. They were gone! I heard they tasted good.:gaah:
Sounds great guys, wife has elected that mondays are to be meatless:( we are having some Vegan crap tonight.
big bowl of popcorn and butter after she go's to bed,
That'll work. Attachment 131550
Morel and Cheddar omelette.
This is usually as fancy as it gets when I cook. It is still to early to get a fresh piece of parsley from the garden for garnish. :D
It tastes great anyway and doesn't last long to look at!
That looks wonderfull, have a big tri-tip on the smokehouse (two days) hits the barbie tonight:)

Tonight's dinner was pot roast in the Dutch oven with fresh local Vidalia onion and cream of mushroom soup. Mashed potatos and fresh asparagus. My 10 yo daughter made a Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing for desert. Fine birthday dinner!
Well, I was planning on beer and home-made burgers on my deck,
but with 9C / 48F, fog down to the fjord, wind and horizontal rain it wasn't very tempting.

So the burgers and beer were enjoyed indoors.

My Garlic Harvest today,Not dinner but will be used in many, about 6 mos. worth for us.

It says Roseville but looks like Gilroy.
Lived my entire life just north of Gilroy (the garlic capitol of the world) Truth is they no longer grow garlic in Gilroy, land got to spendy.
Majority of the garlic sold in the states today comes from China.
Pretty easy to grow your own, just takes 8 mos from planting to harvest.

Thought you might like a photo of my birthday dinner last year. When the waitress asked what I wanted, I replied "a huge slab of prime rib" little did I know this was what I would get. She asked me several times in passing if I was really going to eat the whole thing. I did, it just took three days. The restaurant was started in 1932 and has been owned by the same family since, and are reputed to have the best prime rib in the state.Attachment 134873 Total weight was about 4 lbs. and cost me 36.00. much less than what the grocery store sells it for-currently 11.99 per lb.
My Colon and I came back for a second look.........Gosh ! So tasty looking. I can actually picture all the steaks and sandwiches on that thing...Giddy like a schoolboy on a first date ha ha !
So one of the nice things about being a bachelor is, I can eat the same thing for a week and be okay with that. Here's what I'll be living off of. Meant to be cold dishes. First...Chicken simmered for two hours in the Cast iron Dutch oven with, smashed Garlic cloves, fresh rosemary, cumin, smoked paprika, olive oil, salt pepper, oranges and spring onions (the small container is the schmaltz which will be good spread on rye bread). And a big ol' tub of English and regular cucumbers sliced and marinated in salt, pepper, fresh dill , olive oil and Balsamic vinegar, plus to go with all this I got a nice seedless watermelon chillin in the fridge....oh baby !:chapeauAttachment 135635Attachment 135636Attachment 135637
makes me salivate just looking at the photo...get the silver drool bucket. Hey does anybody remember that line?
