I'm off to the Aquavit shop for a bottle of the local stuff. Thinking I might start a new thread once I've tasted it.

Something else I need to stay away from. I would probably enjoy it and want to explore the world of aquavit as well! Sounds intriguing.

It's time again to choose my next purchase. My criteria are simply that it is as good a whisky as possible for the least amount of money.

    I have three current options:

    1. The Arran 10 year old (as discussed previously)
    2. Tomintoul With A Peaty Tang
    3. The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve

Feel free to Google. What do you reckon?

I would definitely go for the Arran 10, but it is of course a matter of personal taste.

Have had none of them, but based on Whiskey Exchange reviews I would go with the Arran 10 or the Glenlivet, slight edge to the Arran.

Have you decided? Love the Arran. Tomintoul - only had the 16 and it was fantastic. Founder's Reserve - the new NAS release. Understand it to be replacing the 12 year old in certain, but not all, markets.

I think it'll be the tomintoul with an Arran 10 sample. Will probably buy a full bottle next time.

Have you tried any Tomintoul in the past? I am curious about the peaty tang.
