Never. It's all arrived, including Ezekiel's very kind gift of aquavit miniatures, which I'm about to un-package.

Right now I am drinking 2 shots of Black Bushmills with Iced Coffee, No Cream no Sugar over crushed ice.
Should play havoc with my blood sugars.

So after Ezekiel very kindly sent me a pack of 10 aquavit miniatures, I had one last night. Fairly sure it was the Løiten linie aquavit. I'll hold back on any thoughts/comparison until I've tried some more.

Must have cost the same as a 500ml bottle, which is very generous, so I'll be sure to return the favour if there's ever something someone else is struggling to get hold of.

In other news. I did buy the tomintoul with a peaty tang and a 30ml sample of Arran 10. Will try one tonight. Not sure which though.

Poured out the Arran and that is a tasty whisky! Smoky but soft and sort of heathery. Best, I think, with a touch of water. I'll pick up a bottle of this next time.

I'll crack open the tomintoul later, just for a taste.

Last night I sampled The Macallan 18. A nice dram it was.

My now 21-year old son got me the Glenmorangie sampler set for Father's Day. So far I have enjoyed the Original (nothing special to be honest) and the Quinta Ruban (much nicer!). I look forward to the LaSantan and the Nectar D'Or soon.

Oh, and after hearing so much about Lagavulin 16, I ordered a bottle today, supposed to be here Friday!

I had a little taste of Lasanta in the duty free at heathrow airport this morning. I was very impressed, I found the original a little bland the last time i tried it, although that was quite a while ago and i was really heavily into laphroaig at the time. I still am, but I'm getting more open minded. The guy in the duty free place said they're going to stop producing almost all the current expressions of glenmorangie next year (or was it this year?) and release a bunch of diffrerent ones. The current range will probably become collectable apparently, so if you see a bottle for sale grab it and sell it on ebay in a few years. I also had a go at ten year old benromach on my travels, and had an evening of comparing Laphroaig PX cask, QA cask and Select. I liked PX best of the three, although QA is interesting if you're used to laphroaig. It has much more oaky vanilla flavours and is generally more gentle than other laphroaigs. I bought a bottle of glenglassaug new make spirit too, so looking forward to opening that.

PigHog, glad you're enjoying the aquavit. They asked me more questions than I was comfortable with when I was posting it, like "What's aquavit?" In the end they decided that whatever it was was ok as long as it didn't have batteries in it. I don't think I'll ever fully understand the world's postal service.

Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon 9 yr tonight. I usually add a few drops of water. I like the nose better that way.

A few nights ago it was Bunnahabhain 12.

Ah yes, the interrogation at the post office. I did wonder why the batteries weren't included.

I finally got round to opening the bottle of A'Bunadh that's been in the cupboard for a year. That's some good stuff. Really thick and sweet. Tastes like christmas.

PigHog, how are you getting on with the aquavit?
