Coming to this thread after a hiatus for a bit. Rye Whiskey is one of my favorites outside Single Malt Scotch. Unfortunately the one I like the best is called Ole George and is produced by Grand Traverse Distillery in Traverse City, MI. It is a small batch Whiskey that they only sell in their tasting centers in Traverse City and Frankenmuth MI so a little hard to come by.
For something that may be a little easier to find Jefferson 10 year Rye Whiskey is good stuff too. It has a very distinct pepper note too it that caught me off guard when I tried it the first time. You should be able to find it at a Total Wine and Spirits ( I believe there is one near Jersey).

Too bad you can't get any "Corn Whiskey" by the gallon or that cheap kerosine smelling Rye Whiskey in Sweden, I happen to like the stuff!

My current favorite scotch is GrangeStone. I have both the 12 and 21 in my cabinet though I am going through the 21 faster than the 12 at the moment because I find it much smoother on my palette with more of a fruity finish. The 12 is a little more smokey. Now if I could find a bottle of their 40 in the US. I still need to get the 18 in the line to see how that one is but they are so reasonably priced 25, 50, 80 respectively they are good value purchase for something new even if you are not keen on them.

Tonight I cracked open the 18yo Highland Park I picked up on my travels last weekend. Very, very nice!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Howdy everyone.
I'm looking to bring a bottle to a friend. I know he enjoys peated/smokey whiskeys an was wondering which would be better to give him. I know he doesn't have either of these bottles at the moment. I was leaning towards to quarter cask because of the lower price, but is the Lavaulign really that much better?
Any comments will be welcome thanks guys.Shaving_story on Instagram
