Fantastic liquid. Haven't met an expression of theirs yet that didn't impress.

    A Caol Ila 12 folllowed by a Talisker 10.
Talisker and Ardbeg are the only whiskies that make me think of the sea. I can almost taste the rough weather and mighty waves.

Finally opened the bottle of Longrow that's been waiting patiently for my attention for nearly a year. Very interesting. Very smokey but very much not from Islay.

Just purchased a bottle of the laphroaig quarter cask. I'm going to explore what the buzz is about this whisky but I will finish my highland park up tonight and will report my impressions tomorrow. I am certainly a fan of the classic 10 year laphroaig. Looking forward to it, cheers.

Well here it is poured a dram of laphroaig quarter cask neat. dry campfire nose, A wave of toasted malt, woodsy vanilla sweetness fills the mouth with a flash of warming spirit and that burnt bandaid finish which is pleasingly weird. Good whisky not a far throw from the classic 10 year with more pronounced smoke and wood me likey.

That sounds about right. Ten year old is a great whisky, but quarter cask only costs a little more, so I usually go for that instead. If you can get to the airport with some money to spare I'd recommend the PX cask too. As far as I know it's pretty much quarter cask with a few extra months in a sherry cask.
