Ya gotta love a restaurant where Mac & Cheese is the first item on the main menu!
Ask if they have any Pappy Van Winkles. The stuff is nearly impossible to find. It's supposed to be the best bourbon in the world. I've yet to see a bottle in person. One thing is for sure....if they happen to have any, you will pay!!
Enjoy your evening!

Octomore! Octomore!
I've tried the 6.1, 6.3, 7.1 and none has disappointed.
These are not, as the blurb may suggest, simple peat monsters. Bruichladdich are able to create the most amazing balance to their whiskies. Hidden beneath the smell of raging peat fire, don't be surprised to find layers of complex sweetness and subtle perfumes that make these deceptive whiskies well worth the cash. 6.3 is particularly good, as is the Bruichladdich Black Art of the last few years.
Laphroiag 15 is something you can't always find and I never miss an opportunity to sample.
The last few Ardbeg Feis Islay releases are not to be missed if you've got the skrilla: Ardbeg Supernova is worth every penny and I'm a particular fan of the Ardbog of 2013. I've not yet cracked my Committee Release Ardbeg Dark Cove bottling, but I'm told it's particularly fine.
Looking at their menu, if you were looking for more smooth, sensual samplings, then I'd say the Balvenie tasting paddle they've got on the menu looks great: I love the double barrel (first whisky I got as a gift!) and the 15 year-old is delicious.
Also, if you want to go REALLY out there look for whiskies from my home-land: Limeburners, Lark are great!
+1 Leatherstockiings --> if you've not tried the Aberlour D'abunadh, tonight may be the night. Definite dessert whisky.
Let us know what you go for!

Thanked: 2284Well fellas, Only had 2 drinks last night. Had a real good IPA with supper and then we went to this bar I had posted. They had a ton of selection in the way of whiskey. I spotted the bottle of Octomore 7.1 on the shelf and it was calling to me!
Fantastic stuff. Very smooth with a great mouth feel. Love the higher abv of 59.5% which gave a typical burn that I'm use to with the Scottish Barley I have. Didn't feel the need to add any water, even at that super high level. I was surprised at the peat smoke. I think Lagavulin 16 is in the 45 PPM range, same with Laphroiag quarter cask. This Octomore is up in the 200 ppm range, but it was definitely not too overpowering. Everyone at my table sure thought it was, but I enjoyed every bit of it. What I was not expecting, and really, really enjoyed was the black licorice/star anise flavor I was getting on the long finish. Truly amazing. I could make a dram of that last for 2 hours easy.
But...... after receiving the bill, and seeing it cost me $55 for this 1 oz dram, I pret near gave birth in my pants.
Was it good? Bet yer ass it was!
Am I glad I got it? Hell ya I am.
Was my wife pissed? Not as much as I thought she was, so it was a win all around!
I was the DD for the night so my wife got to have all the fun. I'm sure we'll be going back to this bar, it had great atmosphere and our server was great. Next time I'll try something a little less expensive.
