Andrew the Psppy Van Winkles will set you back a little more that 55$ for the shot, but there are cognac that fetch 1k for a glass so in the scheme of things not bad. Tc

The only way I would pay that much for shot is to see them pour it from the bottle right in front of me...got to be sure.

I have found that most people who will pay for hat kind of a drink , would know in a hurry if you slip something cheap in their glass. Tc

Thanked: 2284I'm starting to second guess what he poured me. I Def had an Islay, but the alcohol burn that should have been there was not. The peat smoke was heavy, but nothing overpowering. Oh dear.....

I suppose you're right tc, but in my limited experience I've found just because something cost more doesn't always equate to being better or worth it. I'm just a poor working class guy & $55 will gas up the truck and take me to work for the week.
I do tend to splurge.....sometimes.Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Thanked: 2284Geez guys, all I wanted was to try a hyped Islay Scotch, see what all the fuss was about. Sometimes you gotta pay to play. Should have never posted what I paid.

You done fine Andrew, you never know till you try, and reardon is right price doesn't always translate to better, just some people have a taste palate that is very in tune to flavors, and some of the higher dollar whisky,s are very well aged for the smooth that does not burn, then there are some very fine whisky that isn't that much, but take what I drink, Knob Creek, it taste better to me than JD so that's what I drink, it's more expensive, but is it better, to me yes! Kinda like our razor deal huh? Tc

Who knows, maybe one day when the kids are grown and moved out, I'll spurge and try Macallan 18 or better yet 21. For now the 12 or 10 in "Fine oak" will suffice.
