I'm having a dram of the Quarter Cask right now. What a nice way to end Christmas day.

Trader Joe's 10 year old single malt is the dram of the night. I'd give this one a C- or D+. I might have to use it for mixing.

With the Jefferson Wood Experiment levels getting below the label it was time to move forward. Next…
YAYA yay!! Never without… Har…
I use Jim Beam (as I’ve said) in my pecan pies and other goodies so it is always around. JB and a teaspoon of vinegar is just so Louisiana Southern style. Don’t really drink JB that much anymore. One of Stepfather’s favorites and grew up with it. Har… This led to the Kentucky style bourbon Jefferson Wood Experiment which, was like J. Beam on steroids for me. JB 13 different ways. IMHO That led me to Jim Beam Distiller's Masterpiece, their top offering. Finally something that compares to some of the high end Japanese whiskeys. Price wise comparable so no real savings dollar wise but American made. It is big and balanced. I have not tasted American whiskey with this much palate experiences. Big, multi-layered, over lapping, complex and a fair amount of balance and a nice long sweet finish. I love the sweet fruity nose too. WOW so impressed. Always in IMHO. Wink wink
100 proof but does not seem like it. The taste is so big it mellows the high alcohol content. Just enough tannin to make you smack your lips and tongue your teeth for that light fuzziness.
One small rant; just put damn thing in a simple bottle and take $50 or $75 off the price. One thing I have to say about Japanese whiskeys is they, must times put it in a simple bottle and simple presentation box. Or if you are going to offer such things offer two alternatives. Simple and Ultra-presentation. You can get this one engraved with a nice brass dew-hickey on it. Perfect but, not for me, no engraving… Har won't last long enough.
Spendy, but if you are into such things. I will buy another of these. Only been a couple along this journey worth a second imbibing.
Shave the Lather...
