Butzy, 1) You have to list those off. 2) Are those regular size or miniatures? I'm having a hard time with the perspective.
I have Glenfarclas and Ardbeg Uegeadail on my have to try (and Christmas) list. Fingers crossed.
1)
Cragganmore 12
Johnny Walker Blue
Glenfarclas 21
Laphroaig 10
Macallan 15 oak
Ardbeg Auriverdes
Longmorn 16
Glenfiddich 18
Glenlivet 18
Lagavulin 16
Aberlour 18
Oban 14
2)
Those are full sized bottles
Wowsers, Butzy! It looks like you are set. Now all you need is a nice leather sedan chair and a yule log. I keep hearing Glenfarclas whisky tastes like Christmas cake, so nice timing on that one.
I've tried three of those and they were all very nice: The Laphoroaig 10, Oban 14, and the Lagavulin 16.
Yeah, I won't lie... they were a gift. So if it were up to me I would have probably substituted a few of those for some lesser-known favorites of mine. But they're excellent bottles to be sure.
I've had most of them and the Ardbeg is way too funky for me. Lagavulin I really have to be in the mood for (i.e. really in the mood for drinking something Strong and smokey).
You have a GOOD friend!
Bought some makers mark 46 today. It is oK but I will stay with knob creek 120
Bought a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed for Friday's pre-Christmas Poker Night. Best value in the LCBO, which just released a Brewer's Advent Calendar (7 days LATE, but that's typical).
I want a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and one of Col. E.H. Taylor Four Grain. Both currently listed as "sold out" on the LCBO site. It's enough to make me want to drive to Buffalo . . .
Viva la difference in taste buds.
Mark 46 is one of my faves.
I hope its fine to share yesterdays whiskey. Ended a great shave with a Bunnahabhain m๒ine. In my opinion it has a great taste, alot of smoke and was perfect yesterday after some rough days at work.
Also like the Talisker 10, and Laphroaig 10. Got a few others I really enjoy, but I save them for another day.
I always drink my whiskey no ice, room tempered, sometimes I ad just one drop of water. Should bring the taste out, not sure if I can taste the diffrence.
I love how different we all are. The sweet is why I finished the bottle and won't buy another. I like plane old Makers Mark & anything that has a nutty & vanilla undertone...just not much on sweet. Same feelings on Pendleton, that one is really sweet...no undertone, sugar sweet.
And this is why Whisky is the King of Spirits. All manner of flavour expressions are possible, depending on grains, barrels, finishing casks, etc. For myself, I am interested in ALL the variables at this point, mostly because I enjoy writing up the reviews I share here. I think my favourite Bourbon so far, has been the Woodford Reserve, or the Four Roses Small Batch, but it's really hard for me to settle on just one yet. I still have this Rare Breed Old Fashioned warming my belly, and I have not tried the Eagle Rare 10 yr old yet. Favourite Canadian Whisky to date is Wiser's Dissertation, closely followed by the G&W Little Trinity.
All right . . . I am going to throw this out there for we gentlemen in the GTA/Southern Ontario region. would there be any interest in getting together for a "tasting party"? Each participant brings a bottle to be shared (or cigars to be enjoyed), and we spend several hours ruminating on the joys of the aqua vitae. No one needs to get hammered . . . particularly with the distances some might travel, but a few 1/2 ounce drams over an extended period should not trouble anyone overmuch. Thoughts?
Great idea Orv, but maybe wrong time of year to be sampling,,,,
I'm always down for shindigs like this. Count me in Orville.
Got a half botitle of this Aberfeldy 12 from a friend at work. He said he hated it, so I could take the rest. I quite like it. I find it has a nice smooth, buttery quality to it. I think he's use to his bourbon, and this is far from that. I told him I'll take all hi's rejects in the future as well. Haha.
My Dad seems to have taken a shine to this as well. He comes over and asks specifically for this. Might have to get another bottle in the future.

I was perusing the local shelves last night. Here's a question for my Canadian friends: What is the difference between Lot 40 and 40 Creek? The former was in the single malt price bracket which surprised me. I also saw Whistle Pig but that one was behind the counter and way out of my price range.
Forty Creek is a whiskey company out of Niagara region. They have many different types, but their standard expression is great.
Lot 40 is the name of a 100% Rye whiskey, pot distilled made by Corbet spirits which is Wiser''s. Lot 40 is considered by many to be one of the best, especially for the price, 100% Rye whiskeys.
2 very different, and separate products to answer your question.
Anyone tried this? I picked it up yesterday, wonderful stuff!! Smooth and rich flavor. Going to have to pour more tonight.
