More often than I remember, I think...
It's good. Nothing overly special tho. Just a good standard Bourbon IMO.
A new Bourbon replacement.

Here is Johnnie! Johnnie Walker Double Black that is.
February 3rd to March 3rd. I set it outside in my fireplace, so it would be in the shade, but still get all the temperature, and pressure changes to help work on the whiskey in and out of the wood. You can see how the weather has really done a number on the barrel.
Here's a pic of the..... I guess it's whiskey now..... whiskey in my glass and how it's gone from ultra clear to a very nice pale amber. The pic actually shows a bit darker than it really is. The smell and taste is still very much like a moonshine.
Well, lets let it sit for another month!

I have the same barrel aging now, since April last year. I think it's going to need 2 years before I bottle it and go again.
On a different note, I just traded my pappy 12 year for all of these :PAttachment 285062
Yea, the guy hooked me up. He traded everything at his cost, which was much cheaper because he buys in bulk most of the time. He wanted to thin his collection and had a guy lined up to trade the pappy 12 for George t stagg. I couldn't say no. The Weller 107 bottles, one is regular one is a single barrel store pick. The tiny sample bottle is a tour of William larue Weller. I've been absent for a while, but I had to catch up on the whiskey and cigar threads lol
I've had eh talyor 4 grain, small batch, single barrel, and straight rye. All are very good, though I haven't opened the rye yet. Attachment 285070
They tease us up here with pictures of the Single barrel and the small batch on our LCBO website, but there's never been any in stock.
Those government bastards!!!!
I about twisted my neck out of joint so -----

Why go to the Stores???
Knob Creek Single Barrel | LCBO
The Knob Creek 120 single barrel was just an example of what I found was available online in 'Your area' of the Great White North(If you look it shows what's available online and in the stores/and there were none in the stores)--maybe what's not available in the stores can just be ordered??
Yup. I can have it delivered right to my door (for an extra charge) or have it delivered to the nearest LCBO store which is 5 min away (no extra charge) and then just go pick it up.
If you click on "check all stores" it shows which stores have it in stock and how many, throughout all of Ontario. Kitchener and Waterloo are 15 min away from me.
I can probably find a beverage or 2 that have Napoleon on it at the Waterloo LCBO.
Napoleon? Silly Guy! Who ever heard of selling Olive Oil at a Liquor Store??

Having some Single Barrel Jack while I watch the Leafs.

Finished off my bottle of the Knob Creek 120 proof tonight. Very high test hooch, but not as smooth as the Rare Breed. Will likely not purchase again. That said, 2 oz of this in a highball with 4 rocks, a capful of lemon juice, and topped of with diet 7-up is quite nice. Not quite and Old-fashioned, but not far off.
Sorry you didn't care for it, I always recommend it and to tell you the truth your the first. But I,m just like ole Booker T Noe, if you had some left I'd take it and finish it for you.
Now I like the Wild Turkey Rare myself, just not as much, but then again I like a lot of whiskers as long as their some of the better made. And your right it does make a pretty decent highball. But take ginger ale in mine if I mix at all, mostly drink it rocks and follow with a sip of water. Great bottle of Jack there Andrew, I love my tours in Lynchburg a lot, it's one of our 1 day rides on ur scooters, and makes for a great stop. Tc
Would be a boring ol' world if we all liked the same whisky. And my Mama taught me to always finish what I buy.
Oh . . . I would never do that . . . it's good, not great, and a whisky like that deserves "some" respect. It was a heel that needed finishing to make room for more. That's all.
So speaking of mixed bourbon drinks I have a bottle of Bombay Saphire East which aside from all the regular botanicals found in the original gin has added lemongrass and peppercorn to the mix. It doesn’t do well with vermouth IMO, so I though, hmmm whiskey martini maybe?
Attachment 285369
Gentlemen, it is a winner. Slice of lemon floating added to bump the lemongrass and wow, shaking up my third and final for the night.
A suggested try. Shall call it a Kentucky martini I believe..
Cheers.
Ohhhh! That is wrong in SO many ways, Mike! :rofl2:
I hope Tc don't see this! :nono:
I didn’t expect it to be good Tom, to be honest..
Can’t explain it, like Salt and caramel, they just work together..
Figure I have Tc mad at the ice, let alone the diluting of fine Kentucky hooch,, hehe.
Well...I figure after 3, anything goes! :D
Ya know, Mike. Something about that Knob Creek. No denying it.
You can't stretch it out. It just goes.

That's all I can say. Tc

It's been a long week so I think it's time to crack the seal on this bad boy. Attachment 285475
