PigHog, Do you have a favorite distillery from the bunch? Or, is it worth it to buy the sample of your top picks?
To me the tasting notes on the two Taliskers are the most appealing.

Not really - I like them all, which is what makes this so difficult! Samples is a good shout, though. I'd dismissed it at first but it may be the way forward.
Glad to be back. Shared a miniature of 40 year old Glenfarclas with a friend the other day too. That was a very pleasant evening.
Just cracked open this bad boy!
Anyone got thoughts on the glenlivet 18? It seems fairly cheap for a whisky of that age but I saw some tasting notes and I'm tempted to give it a go.
Lol its not bad at all. Its relatively light on the pallet and doesn't seem to have too much of a bitter aftertaste. Personally I venture towards the Irish wiskys. My favourite "Redbreast 12 year".

Give it a go if you get the chance. Keep a glass of iced water close by and enjoy. Cheers. :beer1:
I forgot about this thread. Has anyone had the Lagavulin distillers edition? I tried a wee dram over in Edinburgh, I'd like to hear anyone elses thoughts.
Pedro Ximenez cask finish? Which year? Would love to try some -- I keep looking at the 1997 edition (cheaper than 95).
Not tried it myself, but I heard it's good but not as good as destillers edition talisker.
