petercp4e is a lucky man: I still remember, 10 years ago, being able to buy two bottles of Pappy's as gifts for my father. It was very easy to find them and (comparably) affordable to buy them then, and boy were they delicious!

Glenrothes is a delicious scotch, nessmuck. Enjoy!

Had a dram of my new favourite to start the weekend, Glen Garioch Founders Reserve.

Distillery tour at Beattie's in Alliston. Three different spirits on offer. Trip report to follow.

Wife is looking for something similar to the Glenrothes, but a wee bit cheaper, to have as an everyday sipper. Any recommends?

We always have Thanksgiving dinner here, because my wife is the only one in the family who can cook it (and she's not even American lol!). So I stocked up "for the guests":

My Guatemalan father-in-law has been bringing me Zacapa for over 20 years, so it's almost a staple around here; it's just an occasional sip for me, as I'm much more into bourbon and scotch. The Laphroaig Cask Strength and Four Roses Single Barrel are two of my all-time favorites in those categories. My wife keeps the fridge stocked with her favorite hard cider from Lidl, so I think we're set!

Aaron, very nice, the 4 Roses is very good, but my friend Peter has outdone us all with the Pappy,s! But at the Tc house, I will lay in my stock to appease every one, my Knob Creek Small batch, my brothers fav, Tito,s vodka, and of course for pop, I'll make sure there's a good supply of Bushmills. Yeah, TC-I've never tried the elusive Pappy's; I can't even find the Pappy "knockoffs" that come from similar stock like Old Weller, etc. Anyway, I almost pulled the trigger on the Knob Creek Single Barrel yesterday. I haven't tried the Small Batch, but IIRC price-checking it yesterday at my local it was even higher than the KC Single Barrel.

My brother always brings his standby Crown Royal XO (aged in cognac casks) to make his signature Crown with sprite and lime-it is a delicious drink, and XO is remarkably reasonable for the quality IMO.

Well the single barrell is 120 proof it's really my favorite but it needs an ice cube or 2. So the small batch is my go to for entertaining, some can take the heat. Now I will pull my bottle out the back when no one is looking. But if you like the single barrell 120, you wou like the small batch 100 too, just not quite as hot. Tc

Ya I keep the Crown around also, have a few who like the blended, my dad had gotten me 6 bottles from a bar owner once of the special reserve in the red label a few years ago it was pretty good

I,m on a waiting list for Pappy,s 4 bottles, maybe next year, or I could just break into Peters house! Tc
