    A whiskey, old fashioned.
1 sugar cube, splashed with 3-4 dashes of Angostura bitters to soften the sugar, muddled or mashed with some lemon and orange rind. Filled with 2oz 12 year old Reserve Canadian Club whiskey.
    Pretty classic in a tumbler.
    Cheers men.
    Having another tonight actually..
Well, if we're sharing recipes . . . here's mine for the same drink. I like to modify things for simplicity and consistency.

"IN THE SPIRITS" diabetic friendly "Old Fashioned".
Leaving aside the advisability of a diabetic drinking spirits, I thought this up in order to substitute out the sugar.
3 oz your whisky/bourbon of choice.
    3 oz distilled water.
    3 dashes Dillon's Lime Bitters.
    1 capful RealLemon.
    1 packet of Splenda
    Ice to chill.
Pour a packet of Splenda into a cocktail glass, followed by 3 dashes of bitters. Add a capful of RealLemon, three shots of (in my case) Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, and three shots of distilled water. Stir until blended thoroughly, and add ice. Enjoy

I saw that recipe on FB and screen saved it fir the misses.
I forego the water for more ice and let mine rest 5 minutes before consuming,,,sometimes.

Works best for me with a Bourbon, though. Tried it today with the Collingwood Double Barrel. It was okay, but the Four Roses was tasty.

Will need to make an informed opinion on that myself, so tonight, Woodford Reserve shall be used.

Evan Williams and egg nog. Too good, I'll have to limit myself to one per weekend.

Never been one for "flavoured" spirits. I like whisky flavoured whisky. But, if you like the Crown, they are releasing a "Blender's Select" in Ontario only. If you are close to the border, you will be rewarded for making the drive to Windsor or Sarnia. It is supposed to be VERY tasty.

I tried a glass of Laohriaig Quarter Cask today. That's a powerful drink. My first impression was how much it was like the 10 year old but different-very medicinal and tingly. Subtle flavors were kind of masked by the smoke. I think this is a drink I'll let sit in the glass for a good ten minutes the next time I try it.
