I am back to using a French Press. We have a coffee importer here in town and he brings in some exotic coffees which is fun. The press seems to do them justice.

I do. No snob here, just trial and error over the years to find the combination that gives me the best flavor enjoyment I can get.
Organic Sumatra Mandheling is my favorite varietal. It does wonderful things to my taste buds. I grind it just before brewing in a Baratza Virtuoso burr grinder. (I was surprised at how much of a difference a good quality burr grinder makes in the end result.) Heavy cream only; no sugar and never half and half.
If I only want a little coffee, I use my Yama vacuum pot, but if I have company, out comes my antique Cory 8-cupper. It's glass-on-glass and the coffee it brews is amazing. But I gotta admit, brewing coffee is a lot like shaving for me: I love that ritual and I never, ever rush it.

I do packaged beans, various blends and brands. I prefer a medium to dark roast. For years I ground my beans in a Zassanhaus 'Brilliant' hand grinder. I finally got an electric Kitchen Aid burr grinder and put the hand grinder under the counter. I have used a pour over Melitta porcelain pot for years. Boil the water in a Melitta carafe. I do have a french press but I don't go there too often. Also an old school stove top Revereware copper bottom percolator.

I'm actually more of a coffee snob at work then at home
At work I only use fresh ground beans, dark Colombian, while at home we have two different capsule machines, a Dolce Gusto for SWMBO, and a Nespresso for me, still very good coffe. I don't remember exactly what types I use at home, but I have three different lungo types I drink, there also was a limited edition cherry coffe that was really good with a nice thouch of "real" cherry taste, not the typical artificial oneLast edited by Zephyr; 07-20-2012 at 01:13 AM.

The vacuum system is one of the few I haven't tried yet, but have wanted to for ages. I just don't really have anywhere to keep the thing right now.
The other thing I forgot to mention earlier is that one of the best investments I have ever made was in a decent burr grinder.
