You certainly did not anger or insult me, Theseus.

With my post, I was more or less looking for a change in context. When I was a young man, I only drank grocery store coffee that was so bitter and distasteful, I had to load it up with milk and sugar just so I could down the cup. I never enjoyed it. I guess I drank it because everyone else I knew drank it (and there were those TV commercials telling me I "enjoyed" it, too).

I was in my mid-30s when I discovered that coffee at home could be pleasant if I bought whole beans at Dunkin Donuts and ground them myself just before brewing a pot. Then a year or two later, I discovered a mom and pop coffee roaster in the next town over. They had their roasting machine in the front window and there were times that I brought home a pound of beans that were still warm. they roasted nearly a dozen varietals and each one had different flavor characteristics you could taste and describe: winey, acidic, syrupy, earthy, sweet. It was amazing! I still buy from them on the WWW: <Coffee beans roasted fresh at Willoughby's Coffee &Tea>

I have a classmate from college who comes to visit me once a year or so, and she brings her own jar of instant and refuses to even taste the coffee I brew. She must be getting something out of the experience, even though I don't understand the reasoning for her choice.

I have friends like your former coworkers who feel they are getting their money's worth at Starbucks. They razz the heck out of me when I point out that they just paid $2.00 for the lone teabag floating in their cup of hot water (and Tazo tea is nothing to write home about), or that Dunkin Donuts provides real cream, whereas Starbucks just puts Half and Half out. But they really do think they are getting something special for their money. And I keep thinking back to when I drank grocery store coffee every day, loaded up with milk and sugar because I couldn't stand the taste. I had to be getting something out of that too.

I'm not even certain now what point I was trying to make in my other post. But if I gave you the impression that I was offended by something you said, then it is I who owe YOU An apology.

Haha, I was on 4-6 pots a day. I was doing two before my first class. They had me cut down for fear for my health.

These are the types I regard as "coffee snobs". Once again I apologize if I offended anyone.
    Theseus,
Feel free to call me a coffee snob anytime; most people just call me a word that starts with an "A" & ends with an "E".
