I mostly shave in the evening after my shower. At this time I will use an aftershave if I'm going out that night but otherwise it will simply be an alum block and if needed, such as during the winter months a moisturizer. Every morning as I wash up I also treat my skin, either a moisturizer with aftershave or moisturizing aftershave is key.

Thanked: 18I really have never used an aftershave balm in my life. I kid you not i have the smoothest softest skin on my face. After i shave its like a babys a%$ all i do is put a drop of glycerin on my hands and pour aftershave wipe my hands together and apply. maybe the glycerin is the difference maker but i just dont see the point of using both. If i put balm then aftershave or the other first or whatever it just doesnt seem to make sense to me. doesnt one wash the other away. i use aftershaves because i like the way they burn my face and make it smell good. the burn leaves it feeling clean and tight. the glycerin leaves it plenty moisturized. If i put a balm after wouldnt that kill the scent and the purpose of the aftershave

There's nothing wrong with a splash only. In fact, I usually use only a splash probably ten months out of the year. It rarely gets cold enough here to warrant any extra moisture, but when I DO need it, it's QED aftershave skin conditioner.

I use a balm and then a cream. It works for me. I guess we're all different.

Yes I agree, we are all different. We all use different post shave implements/products. I agree with Don {of SRD}. I always use a/s balms. I just started using witch hazel, and a/s lotion/splash. I will always use witch hazel, and try to use a/s when needed. But, I don't want to cause a over drying affect. Someone said earlier, will a a/s balm negate the scent of a/s splash. Not if you use a unscented balm such as nivea sensitive, or a matching scent of the a/s splash. If you feel that in your case, it does negate the scent; try using a matching edc, or edt. Or better yet a matching balm to the a/s splash, and edc/edt. This is my post shave treatment.
Cold water rinse.
Witch hazel.
A/S splash.
A/S balm.
EDC/EDT.
